Hollywood’s Human Interest
Variety reports that John Wells, president of the Humanitas Prize, has
announced its finalists for 2008. The prize honors—with cash—TV and
film writing that “explores the human condition in a way which affirms
the dignity of the human person and reveals common humanity.” Diablo
Cody’s Oscar-winning Juno screenplay is among the feature film
nominees, along with The Diving Bell and the Butterfly by Ronald
Harwood and Lars and the Real Girl by Nancy Oliver. TV nominations
include multiple-Emmy winner Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee by Daniel
Giat and episodes of Boston Legal, John Adams, The Wire, and Scrubs.
Winners will be announced on Sept. 17.—Movietimes.com Movie News Bureau
